Itinerary

Following a meet-and-greet and briefing by your guide/s at our Blue Mountains Adventure Company office (usually held at 9am) in Katoomba, our first day exploring consists of two classic walks in one day. In the morning you will travel via private mini-bus into the Blue Mountains National Park towards Mt Hay in Leura to the start of our walk. We venture out along a ridgeline past the delicate hanging swamps until the view opens over the vast wilderness of the Grose Valley. We continue walking to the top of 'Lockley’s Pylon' to experience the magnificent 360-degree view that makes you feel on top of the world! We then return via the same trail to our bus. The second iconic walk of the day has us returning to Katoomba. We'll drive along the prominent natural landform known as Narrow Neck to the extent of the drivable section where we commence our walk to Castle Head. This walk gives us stunning views back towards Katoomba and the Three Sisters, and across to Mount Solitary before finishing up with a lookout high above a rock formation known as Ruined Castle; beyond which are vast wilderness views with glimpses of Lake Burragorang. Another out and back track, we return the same way we came. Once you've freshened up back at your accommodation, you'll enjoy a well-earned dinner in the Grand Dining Room of The Carrington Hotel.

Today's walk is the longest for our three days together. You will be picked up from your hotel and travel only a short distance via mini-bus to the day's trailhead. After marvelling at the power of Katoomba Falls and the first views overlooking the Jamison Valley, we walk through to Echo Point the most popular lookout in the Blue Mountains, for views of the iconic Three Sisters. We follow the trail along Prince Henry Cliff Walk passing numerous lesser-known lookouts with views of the multiple waterfalls and different perspectives of the valley below. Whilst we spend most of our time high above the valley, we will also pass through several pockets of lush deep-green remnant rainforest where a cool off in the creeks will welcome us if the day is a hot one. The pockets of rainforest may even reveal the famous Australian lyrebird. The trail is not devoid of steps as this is the Blue Mountains! There are sections of trail where we can stride out on the flats and a few occasions of walking the tree-lined streets of Leura as we connect sections of the walk. There will be many sections descending and ascending with a total elevation of 674m. Our time is mostly spent on high quality structured steps and compacted well drained surfaces. This allows us to focus on the spectacular views, wildflowers and rock formations along the way. Our day concludes with a final view from high above the Blue Mountains' largest waterfall, Wentworth Falls. This evening's dinner is yours to decide from the many options that Katoomba has to offer. Ask us for our recommendations.

The historic Grand Canyon walking loop was first established in 1907 and is one of the most popular walks in the Blue Mountains. The Grand Canyon walk is a not-to-be-missed Blue Mountains classic, exploring some of the areas most diverse and spectacular ecosystems from the scrubby and harsh dry sclerophyll forest to otherworldly cool-temperate rainforests. Upon arriving in the heart of the Grand Canyon, we'll hike amongst the Coachwood and Sassafras trees through a luscious rainforest chasm with towering sandstone walls lined with mosses and ferns. Your guide will share local secrets and interpret the unique environment - and we'll take the time to absorb our natural surrounds. After a gradual climb we will emerge from the Canyon at Evans Lookout where we'll enjoy views over the Grose Valley Wilderness. We'll finish our final day together at a local cafe or micro-brewery to share our favourite discoveries and perhaps talk of future travels. Trip concludes around mid-afternoon - no later than 4pm.
